Aspect: Mechanisms of the Old Gods
Face: Julian Doyle
The headquarters of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in the United States free-masonry in the region stands in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. The Masonic Supreme Council located here describes itself as "The Supreme Council (Mother Council of the World) of the Inspectors General Knights Commander of the House of the Temple of Solomon of the Thirty-third degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States of America."
Ground was broken on the site of the House of the Temple in 1911, over a hundred years after the founding of the Supreme Council, four years later the building was finally dedicated. Architect John Russell Pope who modeled the structure after the tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The building was dedicated four years later on October 18, 1915. It now serves as a tourist attraction, a meeting place for the elites of the most powerful fraternal organization in the world, and a repository for numerous relics and occult tomes held significant by the masonic brothers.
Here can be found the tombs of past grand commanders, including Albert Pike, the confederate general and former Sovereign Grand Commander who authored the "Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry" in 1871, the book describing the rituals and rolls of the 33 ranks of Freemasonry. The Temple also holds the first public library in Washington, D.C. where many ancient and arcane codexes may be found.
It has been suggested that the symbolism and rituals used by the Free Masons all refer to a cabal of Old Gods, including Mercury, Mithras and Isis, whose worship the Free Masons seek to secretly promulgate throughout the United States and the world by subtle manipulations of the laws and culture of the nation.
One of the lodge's most visible patrons is Julian Doyle, a young rising star of Washington D.C. and a supposed 33rd degree mason. Doyle is one of the top lobbyists in the city and is said to possess an uncanny ability for getting things to go his way in the nation's legislature.
