Old Post Office
The Aspect: Cloak and dagger politics
The Face: Cyrus Banneker
Built in 1899, the Old Post Office is a magnificent piece of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture with a 315 foot-high clock tower that makes it the largest commercial building and the third tallest structure in Washington, D.C. It never lasted long as a post office and now it's enormous interior atrium houses shops, federal offices, entertainment space and a food court.
The clock tower offers a spectacular view of Washington with an observation deck at 270 feet. The tower also houses Bells of Congress, replicas of those at Westminster Abbey and a gift from England to the United States in 1983 marking two hundred years since the end of the Revolutionary War.
By night the tower serves as a meeting place for supernaturals to parlay on the edge of the neutral ground of the Mall. Cyrus Banneker, a powerful White Council wizard and Warden of the City of Washington presides over these meetings in an effort to maintain order between the supernatural factions of the city.
